How an unique approach helped aspirants to avoid procrastination..

We approached over 550 aspirants and engaged in discussions with them to understand the challenges they often face.

I personally love to be a part of forums like this since it allow me to get feedback directly from the users.

A loud word was uttered from the crowd “Procrastinationnn..”

I was shocked, realizing they were searching for a solution to this issue. Immediately after the meeting concluded, I called my team members for a discussion on resolving this problem for our users. After three hours of brainstorming, we found a solution in adopting a gamification approach to make the product more engaging and instill a profound sense of accomplishment in users.

This was a GAME-changing path for us & for our users too. We began by experimenting with tracking how many articles a user read on Prepbook, and the response from users was incredible — they celebrated their reading achievements on Prepbook by sharing it on social media.

Prepbook’s Gamification approach, user celebration.

Surprised by the unexpected user response, we decided to delve deeper into the gamification angle and innovate the way aspirants read and track syllabus completion.

“Prepbook extremely proper categorization of UPSC syllabus is one of the popular thing amongst its users”

Further, we combined the categorized syllabus with tracking of user reading progress on Prepbook, enabling users to view their reading statistics and decide which topics to focus on and how much they’ve covered.

It became easy for aspirants to keep track of their syllabus and progress on the app. Later, we introduced a ranking system that would go up after reading articles completely.

An aspirant who read more than 1201 articles would earn the title of “The Enlightened” with various ranks based on the complete article reading count. Aspirants shared their highest reading counts and received exclusive goodies from Prepbook.

Our gamified approach has made the learning process enjoyable for users, motivating them to read more and get closer to completing their syllabus while also helping them rid themselves of procrastination during their preparation phase.

With constant user feedback about this approach is helping us improve it for them. In upcoming days, we have plans to incorporate more gamified elements to make the reading and learning process effortless, immersive, and engaging.

Thanks for reading.
